THE DIOCESE OF WELLINGTON
CITATION FOR THE BISHOP’S MEDAL OF SERVICE
To commemorate the service and commitment given to the
Anglican Parish of St Matthew’s, Masterton
By
JENNY HOBY
It is our joy and privilege to acknowledge the service to the Parish of St Matthew’s Masterton by Jenny Hoby.
Jenny and her husband moved to the Wairarapa in October 1990. Their first contact with the church in the Wairarapa was with the Church in Upper Plain, St Andrew’s in the Parish of St Matthew’s, Masterton. Within six months Jenny joined with Toni Greville as Organist at St Andrew’s. In 1991 she was the sole Organist and was called upon to play occasionally at St Matthew’s, Masterton. Over the years this role has increased and Jenny played the Organ when called upon to do so, playing at St Alban’s, Tauerau as well.
In addition to these demands on her time and skills, Jenny has assisted for a long time playing for Services at the Rest Homes in the Parish on a monthly basis. She has also been called upon occasionally to play for other Church Denominations.
During her long service as Organist at St Andrew’s, Upper Plain, Jenny also accepted responsibility for choosing the Hymns for the then monthly service. With the growth of the Congregation at St Andrew’s, more Services were held and again, Jenny gave her time willingly, playing for many of those services. Now in her seventies, Jenny finds it more difficult to play so regularly but remains committed to the Rest Homes and when necessary as a stand in for St Andrew’s.
We are grateful for Jenny’s contributions and celebrate the generosity of time she has given to those around her.
“Well done, good and faithful servant”
Presented on this TWENTYNINTH day of AUGUST in the year of Our Lord TWO THOUSAND AND TEN and in the TWENTIETH year of our Consecration and enthronement the TWELFTH.
