Bishop's Medal Citation: Mary Perkins

THE DIOCESE OF WELLINGTON

CITATION  FOR  THE  BISHOP’S  MEDAL  OF  SERVICE
To commemorate the service and commitment given to the
Anglican Parish of St Matthew’s, Masterton

By

MARY  PERKINS

It gives me great pleasure to acknowledge the outstanding service to God’s Church over a long period by Mary Perkins.

Mary returned to St Matthew’s late in 1993.  She was invited by the Reverend Ted Dashfield if she would undertake to carry out Hospital visits with the Reserved Sacrament, Home Communions and be a visitor at the Glenwood Private Hospital.

Mary’s role was expanded and included visiting Kandahar and Lansdowne Court, Lyndale Rest Home and the Metlife Care Village.

Mary was licensed as a Liturgical Assistant, leading the opening Ministry, administering the Chalice and from time to time doing the readings at the 8am and 10am Services at St Matthew’s.

She has also undertaken, on her own volition, the duties of Sacristan and that role was acknowledged by a vote of the Vestry. Mary attends the 10.30am mid week Service in her role of Sacristan.

Mary has now reached an age when she is not as mobile as she would like and is seeking an opportunity to remain of service to the Parish but at a more sedate pace.

Mary is an integral part of St Matthew’s, a much loved spirit and someone we are glad to have among us.

‘Her Service has been exemplary’.

Presented on this TWENTYNINTH day of AUGUST in the year of Our Lord TWO THOUSAND AND TEN and in the TWENTIETH year of our Consecration and enthronement the TWELFTH.
