St Alban's, Tauweru, is an architectural gem within Anglican Parish of Masterton. Designed by Frederic de Jersey Clere, it was opened in April 1905.

The Wairarapa Daily Times carried the story.

This pretty little church was formally opened, yesterday afternoon, by the Vicar of St. Matthew's. Standing as it does a short distance from the main road, it forms a conspicuous object to all passers-by.

Painted a light green, picked out with dark green facings with its roof of red Marseilles tiles, it looked quite a picture in the bright sunshine of yesterday; Inside, the mellow light from the stained glass windows contrasted well with the dark woodwork of the building. The acoustic properties of the building are excellent.

The beautiful weather brought together a large congregation which overflowed the building. The service began with the singing of the Old Hundredth. The prayers were partly intoned.

Mr W. H. Jackson read the first lesson taken from the "Dedication of the Temple."

The sermon preached by the Vicar was appropriate to the occasion. He enjoined on his hearers the necessity of living a daily life in keeping with their gift, which he dedicated to God on their. behalf. He was very thankful to say the Church was given to God free of debt. It was now for the people of the district to rally round it and show by their regular attendance at the services that they are upholding the cause of righteousness and appreciating the means of grace established in their midst.

A quartette from St. Matthew's, Masterton, consisting-of Mrs Rawson,-Miss Barclay, and Messrs Jackson and Jago, assisted in the musical portion of the service. The anthem for the day was "Through Darkness Into Light."

Next Sunday afternoon the Maori Missioner to the Wairarapa Natives will assist at the service.
