Vicar’s Corner: Courage

Vicar's Corner

The dividing line between success and just being ordinary, is courage. Stories of courage can be found throughout the Bible.

Fear has it positives, but its negatives can cripple even faith.

To be strong and of good courage can be the difference between living a life of mediocrity and fulfilling ones dreams.

In moments of courage, when we overcome our fear, we will change circumstances and the people around us.

The story is told of a spy who was sentenced to death by the general in the Persian army. The General had a strange custom of giving condemned criminals a choice between the firing squad and “the Big Door.”  When the spy was given the choice he chose the firing squad. Turning to his aide the general said, “They always prefer the known to the unknown, yet, we gave them a choice.”

The aide asked, “What’s behind “the Big Door?”

The general replied, Freedom.” Then he added, “Few are brave enough to take that door.”
